One of the biggest challenges I know that I face half of the time is figuring out where to put makeup and how exactly I should put it on. This is especially difficult for me as I honestly have no idea how I can highlight my cheeks without overdoing it! Well – we are going to explore how you can highlight your cheeks without overdoing it!

First and foremost, you need to find the hollows of your cheeks. That you can achieve by sucking in and then you are going to apply a dark shadow. Once that is done, do your blush – soft coral, pinks and some berry shades are the best and you want to apply that to the apples of your cheeks.

Then, using a larger brush, you are going to blend everything together and you will see just how easy it is and how great you look!

Folks, we have been talking about spring all over the place and while it is not over yet, it is almost summer time and that means that you really – really need to up your look in the makeup area. In this blog and maybe a few others after this one, we will explore some of the makeup tips and tricks that will really brighten your entire face up and honestly – make you look incredible!

Firstly, you need to make sure that you are brightening up your cheeks. This can be achieved by using a crème blush or even a powder blush that has a bit of shimmer to it. This will honestly give you a very fresh-faced look and if you stick with baby pinks, you will definitely lighten up all of your features.

Next, you definitely want to go with some bronzer. Now, for those of you that do not use a bronzer, you have probably been in the house a lot still because face it, spring is not all that warm yet. You want to make sure that you are applying just a little bit of bronzer crème or powder under your cheekbones and you will see quite a difference!

Well folks, it is finally time to kick all of those grays and blacks and pick up some perfect looking pinks and yellows or really … any spring color that you thing would look good! Spring time is definitely all about the color and to be honest, I am extremely antsy about spring time!

When it comes to makeup and spring, it is all about the colors ladies. You always want to make sure that you are making good decisions in the color area. The darker the color, the more you are drawing back to the winter and fall times and you want to spring forward instead of falling backward.

In the next few blogs we are going to talk about achieving just the perfect look and what you should be watching out for in the way of makeup so you can honestly, get your spring look on your face!

While the series Blush is gaining all sorts of popularity, blush the makeup is definitely sitting on the back burner for a lot of people. Most of the time, people attribute blush to things of clowns and they never really take into consideration that blush is exactly what makes us look a little bit human and is definitely something that can soften up a hard-lined and hard-edges face.

One of the first things that you will need to take into consideration when you are applying blush to your cheeks is be light. You do not have to apply a whole bunch of color onto your cheeks to get them rosy. Depending on the color of your flesh and the color of the blush that you have picked, you definitely should not have to use a lot of it.

For instance, me? I can get away with only using a very small amount of blush on just my cheek bones and that is enough for me, but some people do need more than other people. Just be sure that the blush color matches what you are trying to achieve, you do not want to be walking around with a color of blush that is too dark for you.

So many of us women completely forget about the fact that our blush is one of the greatest things in the world and certainly something that men love to look at; this is why the blushing bride look is fourth on our list of five classic looks. While you do not have to be a bride to accomplish this look, there are a few tricks and tips that you should take into consideration when you are looking to apply blush onto your cheekbones.

First and foremost, you want to make sure that you are purchasing the right blush for your complexion. One time, I made a huge mistake and purchased a blush that was way too dark for my fair complexion and let’s just say it was a very bad mistake and there are pictures. So to avoid that mistake, when shopping for blush, go ahead and use the testers out on your skin. Just a small dab on the back of your hand should tell you whether the color compliments your skin or not.

Now that you have found the right blush for you, applying it is simple! Now if you are on the chicks are that kickin’ it old-school and you got the powder blush, go ahead and take your brush, dip it in, tap the side and lightly apply to each of your cheekbones, rubbing it in very lightly with a few fingers. If you are a chick that has gotten some of the new liquid blush, go ahead and use a brush on that too – and use a very small amount. Small amounts go a long way in liquid!

That’s it ladies! One more look and we’ll move onto another makeup topic!

Even those who don’t need to use makeup, (say, those lucky few who have perfect skin,) can still benefit from a light application of cheek color. Blush can make your face light up with a natural glow, which when done correctly, doesn’t even need to look like it comes from makup! The third blush I will be reviewing is a relative “newbie,” but a groundbreaking one.

Smashbox O-Glow BlushSmashbox O-Glow, the first “intuitive blush,” is a clear-gel that suits any skintone, so you don’t have to worry about color faux-pas. The unique formula contains Goji-Berry-C Complex that reacts with your own skin’s chemistry and moisture to produce a micro-circulatory effect that leaves your cheeks pink with a healthy-glow. Instead of coloring your cheeks, like most traditional blush products, O-Glow brings out your own natural flush. How great is that? The formula also anti-oxidant ingredients like vitamin C, pomegranate seed oil, and marine plankton; good stuff that protects you’re your skin and keeps it healthy to maintain your rosy glow.

I personally adore this product, I think it’s absolutely brilliant! A product that, literally, makes you look like you’re in the pink of health.

(price: $26 at Sephora)

If you’ve just had a sleepless night and are in need of an instant “pick-me-up” for your skin, blush can be your best bet. Cheek color can brighten skin and camouflage splotchiness, the right product can give you a natural and healthy glow. My second blush review in this series is also the most popular, Benefit’s Benetint.

“The original sexy flush!” Benetint has been a makeup favorite for years, and has spawned numerous copycat products. But nothing compares to the original, and makeup artists and product junkies alike, swear by Benetint! This cult product comes in a bottle, with a brush applicator similar to a nailpolish brush. While the rose-tinted liquid may be a little tricky to apply at first (the liquid consistency is prone to streaking, if you aren’t careful) once you get the hang of it, you’re likely to call it your holy grail of cheek products. Not only does it provide you with a natural flush of perfect sheer pink (that matches most skintones) it’s very long-wearing, so you don’t need to keep reapplying.

This versatile cheekstain also doubles as a lipstain, so it’s great if you’re travelling light! I wouldn’t recommend using it on your bare lips though. I suggest a light coat of lipbalm underneath the stain to counter-act the drying effect.

If not, then the focus with this is on a natural looking make-up that does not contain chemicals or fragrances. It’s good for sensitive skin. The best thing is that you just brush it on, even the foundation, and it gives you a wonderful coverage. Coverage is most important to me, but the added benefit of knowing that it contains nothing artificial is great too. You can get the starter set for around $30, which includes everything that you need such as foundation, blush, concealer, mascara, and brushes, along with cleansers and other great items. This would make a great gift for someone, providing you don’t decide to keep it yourself

We got this comment from Sierra: I am new to mineral make-up and do not like to spend the big bucks on make-up, but i want the best ingredients for my skin. Pure Bliss Minerals has both and i am in love with these eyeshadow colors-found it online/ebay eyecandy-cosmetics My sensetive skin was very happy, no itchy eyes! yeah!

This is a great new product from Clarins. It’s a make-up palette that has absolutely everything you need to keep yourself beautiful, and it’s in the perfect size for taking with you when you go. With the holiday season coming it, it will be great for those many parties that you jet off to. It comes with a powder compact, a blush, 4 eyeshadow colors, 1 mini mascara in black, and 2 lip glosses, and it’s in a silver box topped with a beautiful ruby.

This would make an excellent Christmas gift, or just get one for yourself. Who says we can’t buy ourselves something pretty for the holidays? And, this palette is only $35 from Clarins, so it’s not like we’re breaking the bank.
