Now that we have talked about the MAC holiday collection, let’s move onto LUSH. While LUSH is not necessarily for your face, it is definitely skincare that can go a very, very long way. Personally, I absolutely LOVE LUSH stuff – no matter what it is and it does make your skin extremely healthy and look awesome.
With the LUSH holiday collections, I can tell you that there are a ton of different scents as well as things you can get. For example, some of the kits include everything from shower gel all the way to some bath bombs and face cream.
LUSH is a company the prides itself on being 100% organic and natural … and honestly, it is awesome stuff. Check it out!
If you are a huge fan of MAC, you know exactly what their newest collection is going to be – the Magic, Mirth & Mischief collection. This collection is actually really near and dear to my heart simply because it is a holiday collection. Personally, I love the holidays and I think that they are by far the best time in the world for the cosmetic companies to make a killing!
However … this collection is not like that. It is brand new and features a ton of new things. Everything from makeup all the way to nail polish and of course lipsticks that are to die for – the colors are awesome too!
If you are looking for the perfect addition to your holiday makeup collections, MAC’s Magic, Mirth & Mischief is definitely it!
The wand is everything. Mascara wands are different, they come in a variety of shapes and with varying degrees of fullness. If you want full eyelashes, then a full brush is going to serve you best. If you need help reaching the eyelashes in the corers of your eyes, then a small wand is better. If you don’t want clumps but do want your eyelashes separated, then a comb is the best bet.
Winter is a great time for dramatic eye makeup, like the popular smoky eye. Black mascara is best for attaining this look.
During these months, you should use two coats, with the second being applied before the first coat dries. That will help keep clumps from occurring.
It’s all about the eyes, you know. And what draws attention to the eyes? The eyelashes. How do you make your eyelashes pop? Mascara, of course. And this winter, there are definitely some things you need to know about mascara. In fact, the following posts contain information that can come in handy all year round.
As a rule, you need to replace your mascara every three months — and that follows the seasons quite well. In winter, you need a different mascara than what you wear during the summer.
This season, your lashes can still be long, luscious, and full. What you need to realize however is that the wand is responsible for fullness, rather than most mascara formulas, so that is where we will start when we pick up next time.
Oh, I have to tell you guys that I thought that I would never … ever live to see the day that purple, glitter eye shadow was actually something that people would consider a fashion trend. Right now though – on Halloween, they do finally consider it a fashion trend and not just for today, but actually in real life too.
There are actually two extremes for the eyes, the smoky eye that is going to be ever-so-popular and the almost non-existent eye shadow, which is something that many people are relying on right now.
When you wear the second look – you better have some kickass mascara on, for all of the attention is going to be on those lashes.
One of the biggest questions that is on my mind this winter is whether or not I should be wearing my skin shining or should I be wearing it matte? Well, this season matte is actually very in right now and it is all that is really showing on the runway this season – also for the fall, which is something that I did not really expect.
The greatest thing I think about a matte face is actually how beautiful it truly does look and how beautiful you can make yourself. You can actually really bring out your eyes and your cheeks when you wear your skin matte and that is the whole point right?
If you have been waiting for me to announce one trend for the winter – matte is definitely it ladies!
As we have no doubt pointed out many times, purple is one of the signature colors for the season. You can easily incorporate it into your makeup as well, you just have to be extremely careful to get the colors right.
Purple does not have to be gaudy; it is not all about royal purple or aubergine or plum. You can stop thinking about bright purple grape juice!
There are soft, soft lavenders, beautiful lilacs, and even dark, smoldering burgundies.
Mixing shades does not have to scare you either. In fact, you can balance out your look by doing this.
You simply have to avoid going overboard. Purple in most shades can be an intense color, and while it has the power to be absolutely stunning, you have to begin with a light touch until you get more confident.
So, we have discussed some popular makeup trends for winter, it is time to pick up some fall looks as well.
One popular look this fall involves a subtler variation of the much loved smoky eye. You can go for a smoldering look that can be worn in the daytime too!
Using a dark but soft eyeliner pencil, line your upper and lower lash line — get as close to your eyelashes as you can.
Then, you can soften the lines by smudging them with either a sponge tip, your pinky finger, or a flat tipped brush.
After that, use a standard fluff brush to put on an eyeshadow in a medium or dark color. Make it go up and a little bit above your crease, and make sure the strokes go back and forth. You can use a creamy shadow to soften the edges.
Pair this look with simple lips for the best results!
Now that we have touched on one of the most important trends in makeup – winter makeup trends. The first is obviously silver eye shadow and the next is going to be eyeliner. Most people in the summer forget about the eyeliner or go really light on it – the winter is the time for you to draw some beautiful lines on your eyes.
Your eyes are going to be the thing that stand out in your makeup and you should definitely take advantage of that. Ensuring that your eyeliner is thick and beautiful is something that most people do not know how to do. Well – that is what I am going to teach you!
First – start with liquid eyeliner and practice … for that is what is going to make it perfect. After you have practiced on some paper, next go ahead and start on the upper lid and follow the natural curve. You will see that it looks awesome as soon as you pull back. Go over it once more and you are done!
When you think about it – what is the very first thing that you think about when we are getting into the winter months? For me, it is all about the makeup and it is all about the silver colors – silver is definitely one of the very few colors that really belongs on your eyes in the winter, for it is definitely a color that looks absolutely amazing.
What most people do not realize when it comes to winter makeup is the fact that you do not always have to go with dark, dark colors – you can still be glitzed out, you just have to do it in a different way. Silver eye shadow for me is something that looks great – whether you get it with some glitter flakes or just plain, it really looks great.
Now – you have to remember when you are dealing with silver that a little can go a long way – so don’t over do it!
